IMD Weather Alert: Heavy Rain to Lash UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan in Next 24 Hours

The monsoon came early this time, and since then the country has been getting more rains than normal. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), India usually receives around 294.2 mm of rains up to July 15. But this year, 323.5 mm has already been received, 10% more than the average. According to the IMD, the rains are still not over. Heavy rains are predicted in most of the states in the next 24 hours, and the people should be vigilant.

Persistent Rain Causes Havoc in Many States

Until mid-July, monsoon has already gained strength in almost all the places in India. It is happening in some places with unpredictable rain, and some places are getting very heavy rains. All areas have had continuous rain in the past two days. In the last few days, rains were incessant everywhere. Heavy rain caused river water to swell in various locations even during the last 24 hours alone. Subsequently, IMD has issued an alert to citizens to use precautions and undertake unnecessary journeys of travel.

July 16 Rain Warning: Thunderstorm and Lightning Predicted

Severe rain warning has been given by IMD to the states on 16th July, i.e., Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Thunderstorm and lightning along with heavy rain have also been forecasted. People of these states must be careful, particularly in the evening and at night.

15 Districts of Uttar Pradesh under Alert

Heavy showers will hit different districts of Uttar Pradesh. IMD has announced these 15 districts in which heavy rain is likely to fall:

Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Lucknow, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Kanpur, Fatehpur, Barabanki, Mau, Deoria, Kaushambi, Basti, and Gorakhpur.

Heavy Rain Expected in These Bihar Districts

Bihar climate also is changing at a fast rate. Heavy to extremely heavy rain will hit the districts of Kaimur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Aurangabad, and Arwal in the next 24 hours. Lightning and squally winds also will hit. East Champaran, West Champaran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, and Jamui are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.

Rain Forecast Till July 21 in Several States

Monsoon is operational in all the states, according to IMD. Thunderstorms and heavy rain will be experienced by Jammu & Kashmir and east Rajasthan on July 16. Heavy rain is probable on July 17, 20, and 21 in Uttarakhand. Heavy rain is probable on July 16 and 17 in West Rajasthan and East Uttar Pradesh.

More States Likely to See Rain This Week

July 16 to July 19 will have rain in Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand will remain unchanged on July 16 and 17. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience rain on July 16. Thunderstorm and Rainfall anticipated across Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal, and Odisha Between July 16 and 21.

Intense Rain Showers Forecast Across Gujarat and Maharashtra Regions

Heavy rains with thunderbolts are expected to lash Gujarat on July 16. Konkan coast and central Maharashtra (the Ghats region) may also see heavy rain. IMD has appealed to the public to be on their guard for five days as there are more rains forecasted.
