This gesture comes close to a month before the festival and surely will spark joy for women across Madhya Pradesh.
The Festival Bonus That Began with Shivraj Singh
Former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Ladli Behna Yojana to socially and financially empower women. He also introduced a one-off Rakshabandhan bonus to honor and support women’s contributions and suffering. CM Mohan Yadav took Shiva Singh Chouhan’s work to another level and continued and expanded the scheme.
New Boost: ₹1500 Now, ₹3000 by 2028
During a recent event in Singrauli, CM Yadav announced that by Diwali 2025, monthly aid would increase to ₹1500. More significantly, he promised to double the amount to ₹3000 per month by 2028. A special ₹27,147 crore budget has been allocated for women’s welfare, with ₹18,699 crore specifically for the Ladli Behna Yojana.
Who Can Benefit From the Scheme?
Eligible women must:
- Be aged between 21 and 60
- Be married, widowed, divorced, or separated
- Have a family income below ₹2.5 lakh
- Not be from a family with income tax payers, government employees, or large landowners
- Be permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh
The scheme directly transfers funds into the women’s Aadhaar-linked bank accounts every month.
For many women, this monthly support has been a game-changer. From starting small businesses to paying for children’s education, the scheme is empowering women in real and meaningful ways. As Rakshabandhan approaches, many recipients say the bonus makes them feel remembered and celebrated, especially those without families of their own.
