North India Rains: The continuous torrential rains in North India have disrupted normal life. Its effect is being seen very seriously, especially in the hilly areas. The Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir has been postponed till August 3. The pilgrimage route has been completely blocked due to landslides and road damage on both Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The administration is now engaged in repair work on a war footing so that the journey can resume soon.

Kedarnath Yatra halted for the third day as well

The situation in Uttarakhand is also very worrying. Kedarnath Yatra remained halted for the third consecutive day due to landslides. During this time, NDRF and SDRF teams were successful in taking more than 450 pilgrims to Sonprayag through safe alternative routes. So far, more than 5,000 devotees are staying in Sonprayag camps and waiting for the weather to clear.

Rain will continue in Delhi-NCR

Monsoon is also active in full force in Delhi and NCR. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of moderate rain with thunderstorms for August 2 and 3. The maximum temperature is likely to be 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, and the minimum 24 to 25 degrees. A yellow alert has been issued especially for Gurugram, where heavy rain and lightning have been warned.

Cloudburst at three places in Himachal, roads closed

The Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh was rocked by three cloudburst incidents on Friday. Puhre Nala near Tindi was flooded, while clouds also burst in Yangla Valley and Jispah, forcing the locals to flee to safer places. Two houses and seven cattle sheds collapsed due to heavy rains in Kangra district. At the same time, the Kiratpur-Manali highway in Mandi and Bilaspur remained blocked for nine hours, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded on the way.

Flood crisis in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, too

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in many districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, and Nainital. On the other hand, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the Ganga has crossed the warning level and reached Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Boats have started running in the narrow streets, while many villages of Prayagraj are submerged in floodwater.
