  • gram flour 1 cup
  • rice flour 2 tablespoons
  • Green chili (chopped) 1-2
  • Green coriander (chopped): 2 tablespoons
  • Celery 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste.
  • Water as required
  • Oil for frying

Method of making onion pakoras :

Cut the onion into thin slices and put them in a bowl. Add salt to it and leave it for 5-7 minutes so that water comes out of the onion. Now add gram flour, rice flour, green chili, coriander, celery, chili powder, and turmeric to the onion. Make a batter by adding water little by little. The batter should be neither too thin nor too thick. Heat oil in a pan.

On medium flame, add the mixture little by little by hand or spoon. Fry the pakoras till they become golden brown and crispy. Take them out on tissue paper. Serve hot pakoras with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or tea.

If you want, you can also make mixed veg pakoras—add cabbage, spinach, or fenugreek with onion. If rice flour is not available, you can also use corn flour. Celery is beneficial for the stomach; definitely add it.
