PM Vishwakarma Yojana: New opportunity for artisans and craftsmen, loan up to Rs 3 lakh without a guarantee

PM Vishwakarma Yojana: The Government of India has been implementing many welfare schemes from time to time to improve the living standards of the people and strengthen their economic condition. From farmers to women, every section is getting the benefit of some scheme or the other. In this sequence, on his birthday, September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a new initiative named PM Vishwakarma Yojana. This scheme is especially for those who want to make their future through traditional skills and handicrafts.

Who are the real beneficiaries of the scheme?

Millions of people in the villages and cities of the country still make a living with the help of traditional skills. Works like goldsmith, blacksmith, carpenter, potter, cobbler, tailor, barber, and washerman have been a part of Indian society for a long time. But with changing times, these skills are gradually lagging behind. The government believes that if these traditional artisans get financial help and modern means, they will not only become self-reliant but will also strengthen the country’s economy.

Under this thinking, 18 traditional trades have been included in the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. These include artisans like boat makers, fishing net makers, sculptors, masons, lock makers, tool makers, basket and mat weavers, broom and toy makers, stone breakers, and garland makers.

How will you get the benefits of the scheme?

The most special thing about this scheme is that there is no need to give any kind of guarantee for it. If you are associated with any traditional skill and your age is above 18 years, then you are eligible for this scheme. The application process has also been kept very easy. Interested beneficiaries only have to go to their nearest Jan Seva Kendra and submit the necessary documents. After verification of the documents, the benefit of the scheme will be provided to the eligible candidate by the government.

How much will be the financial help?

In the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the government is providing many facilities to the beneficiaries. After applying, an advance assistance of up to Rs 15,000 will be given for training and purchasing tools in the beginning. Apart from this, a stipend of Rs 500 per day will also be given during the training period, so that the financial burden is not felt.

The biggest relief is that the beneficiaries will be provided a loan of up to Rs 1 lakh without any security. This loan can be easily repaid in a period of 18 months. If an artisan repays his loan on time, then in the future he can also get an additional loan of up to two lakh rupees.

Step towards a self-reliant India

The aim of the government is not only to provide financial help, but also to connect these traditional artisans with new-age technology. For this, modern training and marketing facilities will also be provided to the beneficiaries. This will not only increase their income, but their skills will also open up new markets.

Prime Minister Modi believes that India’s self-reliance cannot depend only on big industries. Until the small artisans and craftsmen living in villages stand on their own feet, real development will remain incomplete. This is the reason why this scheme has been prepared with the aim of giving equal opportunities to the people of both rural and urban areas.

Why is this scheme special?

PM Vishwakarma Yojana is also being considered important because it is reaching those people who have not benefited much benefit from the schemes till now. This is not just financial assistance, but an attempt to return self-respect.

In today’s era, when youth are migrating to cities in search of jobs, this scheme provides them with employment opportunities in their villages and towns. This will not only reduce unemployment but will also strengthen the rural economy.
