It is enjoyed by people of all ages, even children, and quite honestly, so are adults.
Ingredients:
Most of the ingredients are already in your kitchen, which is the best part. You’ll need:
8 medium boiled potatoes
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp mixed herbs (any seasoning mix works)
1/2 cup bread crumbs
4 tbsp cornstarch
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Boil, Mash, Mix—Let’s Get Started
Begin peeling and boiling potatoes. Don’t over-boil,10 minutes will do. When cooled down, mash them nicely. Combine chilli powder, garlic powder, spices, bread crumbs, cornstarch, salt and mix all of them well to form a soft, smooth dough. A little stickiness is fine.
Slice, Roll, and Sizzle
Fold butter paper over and loosely roll dough but not too thinly, nor too thickly. Cut long, thick slices with a knife or pizza-cutter. They don’t have to be perfect, cutty-rough on the edges to appear homemade.
Heat oil in a deep fry pan. When hot, add strips slowly. Fries should be cooked over low to medium heat until they are crunchy and golden brown. When they are nicely browned and smell wonderful, they are ready.
Drain excess oil well on tissue paper and dispose. Top them with hot ketchup, mayo, or green chutney if needed. They are great for evening times or even as snack time for tiffin.
They’re simple to prepare, comforting, and prepared with love and that’s their magic. You can easily find yourself preparing them much more frequently than you thought!
