RRB NTPC Recruitment 2025: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the notification for the NTPC Undergraduate Level Recruitment 2025. Applications are invited for 3,050 Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) positions. These positions include Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CC/TC), Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist, and Trains Clerk (TC). Interested candidates can begin the application process from October 28, 2025, and apply online until November 27, 2025. To apply, candidates must visit the official website, rrbapply.gov.in.

Fewer Posts and Lowered Maximum Age Limit

The number of vacancies has decreased compared to last year. In 2024, 3,445 positions were filled, while this time, applications are being sought for only 3,050 positions. A significant change is that the three-year age relaxation has been removed.

Last year, the maximum age limit was 33 years, but this time it has been reduced to 30 years. The minimum age has been set at 18 years, and the age will be calculated from January 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be given to reserved categories—OBCs will receive 3 years, and SC/STs will receive 5 years.

Eligibility: A golden opportunity for 12th-passed youth

This recruitment is a great opportunity for 12th-passed candidates to secure a government job. Different qualifications have been set for each position.

For the Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and Train Clerk positions, candidates must have passed 12th with at least 50% marks. However, the 50% mark requirement will not apply to SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates—simply passing 12th is sufficient.

For the Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist positions, a minimum of 50% marks in the 12th standard is required. Candidates must also be proficient in English typing at 30 words per minute or Hindi typing at 25 words per minute on a computer. SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates are exempted from the 50% marks requirement for these positions.

Selection Process: Two-Stage Exam

The RRB NTPC 2025 recruitment process will be conducted in two stages—CBT 1 and CBT 2. The first stage will be common for all positions, while the second stage will be conducted only for shortlisted candidates.

The CBT 1 exam will be of 90 minutes duration and will consist of 100 questions—40 from General Awareness, 30 from Mathematics, and 30 from General Intelligence and Reasoning. There will be a negative marking of one-third marks for each wrong answer.

Based on the normalized score of the first stage, candidates will be selected for the second stage. CBT 2 will also be 90 minutes long and will consist of 120 questions—50 from general awareness, 35 from mathematics, and 35 from reasoning and logic.

In addition, a typing skill test will also be conducted for the Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist positions.

Application Fee and Refund Facility

The application fee for General category candidates has been set at ₹500. For SC, ST, women, EBC, and differently-abled candidates, the fee will be ₹250. Importantly, candidates who appear in CBT 1 will receive a refund after the exam—₹400 for General category candidates, while candidates from other categories will receive the full ₹250.

Increased Competition, Reduced Age Limit

This year, due to the reduced number of positions and the lowered upper age limit, competition is expected to be even tougher than before. Lakhs of young people aspiring to join the Railways have already begun preparing for this exam.

The application process will begin on October 28th and continue until November 27th, 2025. Candidates are advised to apply before the deadline to avoid any technical issues.
