Back On Earth After Space Mission

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is home after spending 18 days on the International Space Station with the Axiom -4 mission The SpaceX Dragon capsule made a safe splashdown in the Pacific near California at 3.01 pm IST on Tuesday July 15. It took over 22 hours to reach Earth after leaving the ISS on Monday evening.

Shukla with three other astronauts did more than 60 experiments in orbit Soon after the splashdown boats reached to pick them up and they stepped out on a ferry at sea just before 4 pm IST Doctors checked if they were healthy and fit to return to normal life They will now take a few days to adjust to Earth’s gravity again.

India’s First ISS Astronaut Makes Country Proud

Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from ISRO is the first Indian astronaut to stay on the ISS. He piloted the Ax 4 spacecraft named Grace NASA confirmed the landing went perfectly, This safe return reminds many of Sunita Williams who came back with Butch Wilmore in March after nine months on the ISS.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him on X saying he joins the nation to greet Shubhanshu Shukla after his historic space mission Modi said Shukla’s courage and hard work will inspire a billion Indians He added that this mission is another big step for India’s first independent space mission Gaganyaan.

Axiom -4 Helps India’s Gaganyaan Dream

The Axiom-4 crew was led by Commander Peggy Whitson who worked for NASA before and now works for Axiom The team included Shukla Slawosz Uznanski Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary This mission brought these countries back to human space travel after years.

They launched from Kennedy Space Center on June 25 The team studied how living in space affects farming clean water health and the human body These tests will help India and the world plan long future trips in space This is key for India’s Gaganyaan mission set for 2027 which will send astronauts on a made in India spacecraft.

Big Win for SpaceX and Axiom

Axiom-4 is the 18th crewed mission by SpaceX since 2020 For Axiom a young company this mission builds its plan to fly astronauts for private firms and other countries. They are working on a new private space station to replace the ISS when NASA retires it in 2030.
