Today Weather Update: Delhi faces severe pollution, heavy rain alert in South India, and colder weather in the mountains

Today Weather Update: As the Diwali celebrations fade, Delhi’s air has once again become toxic. Air pollution has been steadily increasing in the capital and surrounding areas since the festival. A thick layer of dust and smoke has settled in the air, leading to a sharp increase in respiratory problems. Hospitals are seeing a rise in patients with breathing problems, coughs, and eye irritation.

Clear skies in Delhi, but pollution levels remain dangerous

According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi is expected to experience clear skies for the next four days. However, light drizzle is possible on October 27th and 28th, which may bring some relief. During this period, the maximum temperature in the capital is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature around 17 degrees Celsius.

Experts say that unless there are strong winds or significant rainfall, pollution levels are unlikely to decrease. People have been advised to wear masks when leaving their homes and to protect children and the elderly from polluted air.

Rainy Season Begins in South India

Due to the pressure formed in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, a series of heavy rains may begin in South India. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will receive heavy rain on October 27 and 28. Light to moderate rain is also expected in Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe between October 26 and 28.
Strong winds, with speeds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, are also possible in many parts of the South. People and fishermen living in these states have been advised to exercise caution.

Winter Returns to Himalayan States

The weather has changed in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall in the hilly areas has increased the cold. A mild chill is being felt in the mornings and evenings. According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance will affect the Himalayan regions on October 27th, which is expected to bring light rain on October 28th.

The country’s three seasons, three colors

While Delhi and North India are grappling with pollution and smog, clouds have settled over South India. Meanwhile, the effects of winter are beginning to be felt in the mountains. Different weather patterns are emerging in different parts of the country—somewhere pollution is suffocating, somewhere rain is providing relief, and somewhere snowfall is increasing the feeling of winter.

For now, the Meteorological Department has appealed to people to take special care of their health and safety amid the changing weather. Wear masks in Delhi amid pollution, reconsider travel plans during the rainy season in South India, and be sure to pack warm clothing to protect yourself from the cold in the hilly areas.
