India’s farmers are the backbone of the nation’s economy. As a support mechanism, the government is implementing a number of good schemes. Although everyone knows about the PM Kisan Yojana, there are numerous other schemes that offer money, insurance, pension, and even training. These schemes aim to enhance the income of farmers, minimize their risks, and bring profitability to agriculture. Here are 10 government schemes that each farmer should be aware of:
1. PM Kisan Yojana – ₹6000 Direct Benefit
Three payments of ₹2,000 each are made to eligible farmers, who receive ₹6,000 annually straight into their bank accounts. They can purchase seeds, fertilizer, or farm equipment with the money. Farmers can apply online at pmkisan.gov.in or in person at the nearest CSC center. The 20th installment is on its way.
2. PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana – Monthly Retirement Benefit at 60+
This pension plan gives ₹3,000 per month to small and marginal farmers when they turn 60 years old. The farmers pay a small contribution every month, and the government pays the same amount. They can visit a LIC office, CSC center, or the Maandhan website to enroll.
3. PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana – Storage Assistance
Started in July 2025, the scheme supports farmers in constructing grain storage buildings, cold stores, and post-harvest facilities. It reduces crop loss and increases market price. Farmers are eligible to apply from district agricultural offices or the official website of the agriculture department.
4. PM Fasal Bima Yojana – Crop Insurance at Low Cost
This program protects farmers against losses brought on by pests, illnesses, or natural disasters. The government subsidizes the remainder, and the premium is negligible. Farmers can apply in banks, CSCs, or on the website of the scheme.
5. PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana – Irrigation Support
This program subsidizes micro-irrigation equipment such as sprinkler and drip systems. It will conserve water and provide irrigation connection to all fields. Farmers can enroll from their county agriculture office or state agriculture department.
6. State Crop Insurance Plans
Other than central government insurance, there are also crop protection schemes in the majority of states. These schemes protect the farmers during drought, flood, or abnormal weather. Farmers may approach local banks or agriculture officers for inquiry.
7. Krishi UDAN Scheme – Fast Transportation of Crops
This scheme benefits the producers by transporting perishable commodities such as fruits and vegetables to far-off markets through the air. It minimizes wastage and maximizes income. Farmers can approach the mandi officials or the local FPOs.
8. Kisan ATMA Yojana – Training in New Farming
This scheme provides training, workshops, and professional guidance on innovative farming methods. Krishi Vigyan Kendras and agricultural departments are implementing it. People can register themselves in the local agri office.
9. DBT in Agriculture – Subsidies Direct to Bank
Seeds, fertilizers, and other subsidies now get directly transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). It excludes middlemen and results in the farmer receiving the full sum. Aadhaar linking with a bank account is necessary.
10. Jaivik Kheti Scheme – Support for Organic Farming
This scheme promotes organic farming. It provides training, certification assistance, and improved market linkage to farmers. It benefits farmers financially and improves the soil. Registration may be availed through jaivikkheti.in or agri offices.
These 10 schemes actually make farmers’ lives improved. Thanks to these incentives, farmers can produce more, earn good, and secure their future.
