Uttar Pradesh is again fighting against intense monsoon rains. The situation in Mathura turned grim when a whole tehsil was flooded with water due to incessant rain. Roads, houses, and farmlands are flooded, forcing people to either shift to higher grounds or remain stuck indoors. People claim that they have not witnessed waterlogging this worse in decades.

Authorities intervened with rescue boats and emergency personnel to assist. Several villages encircling the area are also isolated, and power supply has been cut off in regions. Schools of affected areas have been closed temporarily.

30,000 Stranded in Kashi as Ganga Overflows

Kashi, another name for Varanasi, is experiencing the same trouble. More than 30,000 residents are confined by floodwaters today as the Ganga river keeps swelling. Low-lying residential suburbs such as Assi, Nagwa, and Rajghat are totally waterlogged. Boats have taken over vehicles in many of the colonies, and ropes and bamboo bridges are also being employed for commuting.

The administration has put in place temporary tents and are providing food and safe drinking water. Still, the majority of residents are staying indoors because they fear theft or damage.

UP Weather Update - Mathura Weather

Locals in the area have been told to refrain from unnecessary travel, especially in regions susceptible to flooding. Emergency services have been notified and rescue boats kept ready in all affected locations.

Monsoon to Intensify Again After Two Days

Though the showers have lost some intensity, the weather department has warned that the monsoon will pick up again after two days. Further more rainfall is expected across eastern and central UP.

Farmers are concerned about their ready-to-harvest crops of paddy and vegetables, which may suffer massive losses as a result of waterlogging. Meanwhile, daily wage workers and street vendors are facing losses due to water-filled roads and fewer buyers stepping out.

Government Steps In With Relief Work

The government has directed relief camps and provisions in all the affected regions. NDRF and SDRF teams have been sent for rescue operations in Varanasi, Mathura, among other flood-affected regions. Special emergency numbers have been rolled out.

People have been asked by authorities not to believe and circulate rumors and not to confine to news only through authentic agencies like the IMD or local administration.
