Weather Update: Cold weather arrives, major changes in weather from Delhi to the mountains, rain alert issued in these four states

Weather Update: The rainy season has almost ended across the country, but the weather hasn’t completely stabilized. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated in its latest forecast that heavy rain is still expected in four states. Meanwhile, the cold has already set in across North India. Temperatures are dropping rapidly in the morning and evening, and a layer of fog has begun to cover many areas.

Cold intensifies in Delhi, AQI worsens again

Cold is now being felt in the national capital, Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 13 degrees Celsius for the next seven days. Cold winds in the morning and night have forced people to take out sweaters and jackets. The sun shines during the day, but the chill intensifies as evening approaches.

There is no possibility of rain in Delhi at this time, although light fog and mist are expected to persist for the next few days. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital and surrounding areas—Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram—has again reached the “poor” category. Weather experts say that as temperatures drop, pollution levels may increase further.

Cold weather intensifies in North India, and temperatures drop significantly

Temperatures are also steadily falling in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Punjab. Morning and late-night temperatures have now reached 11 to 12 degrees Celsius. Fog has begun to settle over fields in rural areas, and cold winds have prompted people to resort to bonfires.

According to meteorologists, the cold wave in North India is expected to intensify, with temperatures potentially reaching single digits in many parts by mid-November. A further drop of 2 to 3 degrees in minimum temperatures is predicted in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, including Delhi-NCR.

Snowfall in the mountains increases the chill

Winter is now reaching its peak in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the western disturbance, snowfall is occurring on mountain peaks above 4,000 feet. As a result, temperatures have dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in most hilly districts, while temperatures have dropped below zero in some high-altitude areas.

Snowfall has increased tourist footfall in tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Manali, Kedarnath, and Auli. However, this weather is proving challenging for locals, as the snow is affecting roads and power supply.

A fresh rain alert in South India

The Meteorological Department has stated that heavy rainfall is expected in Meghalaya, Puducherry, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu within the next 24 to 48 hours. Strong winds and thunderstorms are possible in these states. Fishermen, especially in coastal areas, have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Several districts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been experiencing light rainfall for the past few days, but the impact is now expected to intensify. Weather experts believe that this rain will cause a sharp drop in temperatures in South India.

The full impact of winter will now be visible

This change in weather clearly indicates that the true winter season has begun. Fog and falling temperatures in North India, while rain in the South, are both expected to affect the weather across the country. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious about both cold and pollution.
