Women Employment Scheme in Bihar: The role of women has always been decisive in the politics of Bihar. Before the assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again made a big announcement to woo this half of the population. While launching the new scheme, he said that a female member of every family in the state will be given financial assistance to start employment. This scheme has been named “Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana,” and it has also been implemented immediately.
First installment directly into the bank account
The Chief Minister said that under the scheme, initially, the first installment of Rs 10,000 will be sent directly to the bank account of women. The special thing is that no eligibility conditions have been fixed for this amount. That is, there will be no restriction on the basis of caste, class, or income. A female member of every family can avail this benefit by applying.
A step towards self-reliance
The government argues that this scheme will not only motivate women towards employment, but will also prove to be helpful in making them self-reliant. Nitish Kumar said that women are no longer limited to the family, but are contributing equally to the progress of society and the state with their hard work. This initiative will give them financial security as well as confidence.
Assistance of two lakhs in the second installment
The most important aspect of the scheme is that if women start employment after receiving the first installment, they will be evaluated after six months. Women who are taking the work forward will be given additional financial assistance of up to two lakh rupees by the government. Its purpose is that women can set up a business not only on a small scale but also on a large scale.
Big bet in election season
Political analysts believe that this step can prove to be a masterstroke of Nitish Kumar before the assembly elections. Actually, the number of women voters in Bihar is large, and they have the power to influence the election results. In such a situation, this scheme is not only important from the economic point of view, but is also considered important from the political strategy point of view.
Announcement on social media
Nitish Kumar formally announced this scheme through social media on Friday. He said that his government has taken several steps for women’s empowerment since the year 2005, whether it is giving 50 percent reservation to women in panchayat elections or a scholarship scheme for girls. This new initiative is being described as a big decision in the same series.
Responsibility to the Rural Development Department
The responsibility of implementing the scheme has been entrusted to the Rural Development Department. At the same time, the Urban Development and Housing Department will also cooperate in it if needed. The process of transferring money to the bank accounts of women will be started from September 2025. The government estimates that about 2.70 crore families of the state will be directly benefited by this scheme.
Business will increase from Haat Bazaar
The government does not want to be limited to only financial help to provide employment to women. The Chief Minister said that Haat Bazaars will be developed for the sale of women’s products from village to city. This will not only provide a platform for women to sell their products, but will also give new impetus to employment and trade at the local level.
New chapter of employment in Bihar
Nitish Kumar says that this scheme will strengthen the economic condition of women and will also increase employment opportunities within the state. He expressed confidence that after the implementation of the scheme, a large number of people will not go out to find jobs out of compulsion. This will have a direct impact on the state’s economy, and the role of women will be more strengthened.
Empowered Women, Empowered Bihar
The Chief Minister believes that the progress of Bihar is possible only when women are economically empowered. This is the reason why this scheme is not limited to just an election promise, but is a step towards long-term social change. How successful this initiative of making the state economically and socially strong by making women self-reliant will be in the coming years will be revealed only in the coming years. But it is certain that this announcement before the assembly elections has added a new color to the politics of Bihar.
