Indian Farmers Now Earn ₹1 Lakh/Acre with Solar—Here’s How

A New Era of Farming with Solar Energy

The vision of PM-KUSUM is to make farms as mini power plants. The first stream of the scheme will allow farmers to create up to 10,000 MW of grid connected solar plants on their land and farm produce. Not only is this electricity used to irrigate their crops but they are also able to sell back excess into the grid making it an income stream from otherwise idle land.

Part two: stand alone solar pumps a boon for farmers who do not have grid access or resort to diesel pumps that are very expensive. In the third part agricultural pumps run off-grid and powered by Solar to save the load on power infrastructure so that farmers get regular and reliable electricity when they need it.
