A Financial Breeze Amid Inflation Storm

The whole Jammu and Kashmir have felt a wave of financial relief with government has by announcement fixed Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees & pensioners of the state. As household budgets buckle under inflation this increase is a welcome reprieve, more importantly it’s real, the timing of it so perfectly and it comes with money.

DA Raised for 7th Pay Commission Employees.

2% increments are now in store for DA of the employees under the 7th pay commission. That brings the current rate of 53% up to and over 55%. In fact, sweeter yet is that time travel karma — this applies from 2025 Jan onwards. This means that in June, employees are entitled to a DA arrear lump sum for 5 months at that time. Revised DA will be effective in a monthly salary from July 2025.

6th Pay Commission Pensioners Get a Bigger Push

The government has also been generous to the hands below 6th pay commission Their DA/DR increased from 246% to 252% — a very clean 6% bump. A jump in this case will be immediate too, from July 1, but only applies to pensions and family pensions — designed to help out retired employees and their families.

Over 7 Lakh Beneficiaries Will Feel the Impact

J&K state has approximately 4.5 lakh government employees and around 2.38 Lakh pensioners till date. Coming to figure, this would amount to more than 7 lakh citizens who would directly benefit from the hike.
