Bollywood’s most loved and hated filmmaker just said what’s been building for years. And he’s not holding back.
Karan Johar Isn’t Sorry-He’ll Keep Launching Star Kids If They’ve Got It
Karan Johar has had enough. He’s been laughed at, dragged on social media, even labeled as the “face of nepotism” in Bollywood. And yet he’s still standing and still doing exactly what he believes in.
“If a star kid has talent, why shouldn’t I work with them?” he said in a raw, unfiltered moment. No PR polish. Just truth. “I’m not going to stop doing what I love because strangers on the internet think I should.”
Yes he gave us Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Ananya Panday. And sure their last names helped them walk in the door. But talent? That’s what made them stay. And Karan’s betting on talent not bloodlines.
Everyone Talks, But No One Watches Closely
What no one seems to care about, Karan says, the outsiders he’s lifted up along the way. Neeraj Ghaywan remember him? No family in films. No godfather. Just raw skill. Karan produced Ajeeb Daastaans for him. Now he’s backing Homebound, Ghaywan’s next big one.

But no praise. No applause. Just silence.
“You know what’s weird?” Karan said. “People I’ve never even met go on podcasts and get asked, ‘So what do you think about Karan Johar?’ Like… really? Why am I the headline in their life story?”
Dharma’s Doors Are Wide—Not Just for the Famous
The rumor that Dharma only backs star kids? “Total lie,” he says. “Look at our entire lineup. There are names you won’t even recognize but they’ve got fire in them.”

And as for being called the villain of Bollywood?
He laughs. Shrugs. Then says quietly, “If that’s the role I’ve been given, fine. But I never auditioned for it. I don’t think I deserve it.”
One Thing’s Clear He’s Not Done Yet
Karan’s going to keep doing what he does best ,tell stories, find stars, and stand tall no matter what the world says. Love him or hate him, you can’t ignore him.
And deep down, he knows that too.
