Ingredients to make Khajur Halwa:
Dates (seed removed)—1 cup (150 grams)
Ghee—2 tablespoons
Milk—1/2 cup (hot)
Mawa/Khoya—1/2 cup (optional, to enhance the taste)
Dry fruits—1/4 cup (almonds, cashews, and pistachios chopped)
Cardamom powder—1/4 tsp
Saffron—a few strands (optional)
Method of making Khajur Halwa :
Remove seeds from dates and soak them in hot milk for 10 minutes. Then grind coarsely in a mixer. Heat ghee in a pan and fry chopped dry fruits in it, then take it out. Now add ground dates in the same ghee and fry on medium flame for 5-7 minutes. Now add mawa (if using) and roasted nuts.
Also add cardamom powder and saffron. Fry for 3-4 more minutes till the mixture starts leaving ghee. Serve hot date halwa. If desired, add some more dried fruits on top. This halwa made without sugar is an excellent sweet for diabetics and fitness followers. Dates are rich in iron, fiber, and energy.
