Mitchell Marsh’s sensational 117 and Nicholas Pooran’s blazing 56* crushed Gujarat Titans at home as Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a stunning 33-run win in Ahmedabad. Full match story inside.
Lucknow Turns the Tables in Gujarat’s Backyard
In a guns-blazing and gutsy display, the Lucknow Super Giants stunned Gujarat Titans by 33 runs in the final day-night match at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs though, that loss undermines Gujarat’s hopes of clinching one of the top two spots (qualifer advantage).
Mitchell Marsh Writes IPL History with Masterclass Ton
Having been dispatched to bat first for GT skipper Shubman Gill, Lucknow’s Mitchell Marsh owned the night and bit. Marsh (117 off 64) went for a bang bang as he ripped through Gujarat’s bowling while also providing the zenith of Lhr IPL history. His ton — made as such, to be plain — with a Duckworth/Lewis modifier of 25* and no doubt toproling the Marsh brothers (Mitchell & Shaun) as first siblings in IPL centuries. With some valuably support from 36 of Aiden Markram, Marsh was able to set up the fireworks.
Pooran’s Storm Adds the Final Flourish
Marsh holding one end, Nicholas Pooran took the charge on the other side of things from Marsh. Pooran smashed the unbeaten 56 off just 27balls, devastating Gujarat bowling with four boundaries and five huge sixes. Marsh and Pooran added 121 together, which was a record in the run chase for the second wicket or lower against UTs. LSG bundled for 235/2 with the help of that duo
Gujarat’s Star Trio Fizzles Under Pressure
Meanwhile in Gujarat the top three (Gill,Sudharsan buttler) of the bunch as they have led the team all season returned nothing. Sudharsan with 21, Gill 35 and Buttler got out for a fiery 33 but was not quite threatening enough for real. The chase started to wobble early and GT lost their rhythm never to gain back.

Shahrukh and Rutherford Spark Hope, But Not for Long
There was only one laid spark, Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford joined in a fine 86-run stand. Shahrukh smashed 57 off 29 then added 38 to Rutherford in counter attack. Their twin wicket fell soon after, pretty much washing the rest out of Gujarat. GT batted half heartedly posting 202/9 and killed any comeback hopes.

A Crushing Blow Before the Playoffs
