Mahindra Scorpio Dominates February 2025 with 48% Market Share – No Rival Comes Close!

Scorpio Proves Its Worth Yet Again in the Mid-Size Sector
Undoubtedly Mahindra Scorpio continues to hold sway for SUVs in India. Indeed the segment has proven itself king for itself once again by speaking up for sales for February 2025 to the tune of 13,618 units, thus topping the list of the highest-selling mid-size SUV.
Compared with last year, in the same month, sales were, however, down by 9.52%. For February 2024 it was pegged at 15,051 units sold and certainly, this little foil notwithstanding the Scorpio is many miles ahead of the slicing position of the nearest rival in the segment.
Strong Performance of the XUV700: But Not Even in the Vicinity of Scorpio
Even if the Mahindra premium SUV XUV700 has whisked away buyers for the dumpling it does not displace Scorpio although it was second on the charts with 7,468 units sold in February 2025.
This entry of Mahindra in EV, the XEV 9e electric SUV is given the third position selling 2,205 units. Although promising foray into electric vehicles, it trails its gasoline-fueled counterparts in demand columns.
Hurdles for Tata Safari and Harrier
Flagship SUV of Tata Motors, the Safari finished at 4th with 1,562 units. Closely following it was the Harrier which stood at fifth with sales of 1,376 units but only enjoyed a reputation without beginning to commence a tussle or claim on Mahindra’s dominance in the mid-size SUV segment.
Neither Hyundai nor MG was Struck by the Lightning Bolt
Hyundai’s Alcazar captured the sixth position by selling 1,264 units in February. The poor result saw MG Hector take only 515 units for seventh place. Certainly, brands will have to work on their own strategy before stepping into the Indian SUV market.
Sad Shows for Jeep and Volkswagen
Things could not get worse for Jeep Compass which sold 120 units, claiming 8th place in the overall picture. Hyndai’s Tucson did worse by ending 9th with 73 units sold.
The biggest disappointment: Volkswagen’s Tiguan which sold only 2 units overall for the month of February.
Numbers don’t lie: Mahindra Scorpio remains absolute in its supremacy over India’s midsize SUV segment while all its competitors are left trailing far behind.
Presently, the throne of Scorpio stands firm; thus it still remains the first choice of many SUV buyers in India.
