Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Discontinued: Here’s Why This Sedan Bids Farewell from April 2025

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Discontinued-Shocking Farewell.

The Ciaz, having been a household name in the Indian automotive industry was to see the other side of this decision the issue of being taken out of production this will come as a complete shock to the car.

The discontinuation of Ciaz will continue to remain a silent affair beyond April 2020 pleasing nobody but a few rare enthusiasts and possible buyers. What then fell out of Ciaz’s favor? Buckle up for the twist, the answer to this is because of one mighty decision.

A Tough Standoff in the Sedan Space

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has held its own in the mid-size sedan category. Thanks to its spacious cabin, fuel-efficient engines, and attractive pricing. Priced between ₹9.41 lakh and ₹12.29 lakh ex-showroom. It appealed to buyers looking for an attractive albeit economical sedan. However, at the same time, the car was fighting for its very existence against major rivals Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Declining Sales and Changing Market Trends

For all these years Indian buyers had almost completely gone in favor of SUVs and compact SUVs with the final result that sedans were off the market. The Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Creta, and Tata Nexon became monsters in their own right, and when the Ciaz was fading away. With the switching of customer demand, Maruti Suzuki found it exceedingly hard to justify the continued existence of the Ciaz.

Upcoming Stringent Emission Norms Say ‘Hello’.

April saw yet another big reason for Ciaz to exit. New emission norms. Tighter emissions mean car upgrades are required by the manufacturer for which they will need to invest. With Ciaz barely selling Maruti Suzuki obviously did not want to invest in upgrading it for emission norms, switching over to SUVs instead.

What Next for Maruti?

Ciaz may be cut off but Maruti Suzuki does not want to stay away from the market. Instead, they have managed to fully siphon the production on SUVs and hybrids quite the thing trending in India. It is said that Maruti may take a chance to put a foot in a newer sedan with advanced technical features and a fuel-efficient heart but for now, the journey of Ciaz to award-winning design will come to an end.

If you have always longed to own a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, may this be your last chance of possessing one, as this car would soon be taken off the shop floor with no sale option left.
