Maruti Suzuki’s first midsize electric SUV e-Vitara is now very close to its launch. Recently, pictures of its final production version have surfaced, in which the vehicle was seen without any cover. The company has almost completed its testing and now this SUV is ready to enter the market.
Launch in September 2025, but production affected
Although the company has still not changed the launch date of e-Vitara, some challenges have come up regarding production. According to reports, the production plan has had to be cut due to the shortage of rare earth materials used in electric vehicles. These materials are especially needed for important things like motor magnets.
The company now plans to rapidly increase production between October 2025 and March 2026 to meet the target of 67,000 units set for the whole year.
Battery options and driving range
The e-Vitara will come in two battery variants. The first battery pack will be of 48.8 kWh while the second will be a larger pack of 61.1 kWh. The larger battery pack can give a driving range of more than 500 km on a single charge. This can make this SUV a good option for long distance travel as well.
Talking about charging, it will have DC fast charging facility, due to which the battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 50 minutes.
Looks and color options
The exterior look of the new e-Vitara has now been fully revealed. The design of this SUV seen in black color looks very premium. This SUV will be available in a total of 10 colors – Arctic White, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Land Breeze Green, Bluish Black, Nexa Blue and three dual-tone options: Splendid Silver + Black Roof, Opulent Red + Black Roof and Land Breeze Green + Black Roof.
Driving setup and variants
The international models of the e-Vitara will get an all-wheel-drive setup, but the version coming to India will be launched only with front-wheel-drive. In India, this SUV will be sold in three variants – Delta, Zeta and Alpha. This SUV will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat factory and will also be exported from here.
Features and technology
This electric SUV will also be strong in terms of features. It will be given Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology, which will make driving even safer. Apart from this, it will also include premium features like 7 airbags, large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof.
Who will it compete with
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will compete with some other new electric SUVs launched in India. These include names like Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra BE 6 and XUV.e9. All these vehicles have been introduced recently and e-Vitara is fully ready to compete with them.
