Monsoon Update: IMD Sounds Heavy Rain Alert in 5 States, Heatwave to Grip Others — View Full Forecast

April has intensified the climate across India, witnessing counter current circulation where while most areas are tortured with killing temperatures the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yet another weather bulletin of mixed relief and concern. While torrential rains will sweep through parts of the north during this week the central and western parts of the country will see blistering heatwaves.

North Rainy: UP and Bihar Await a Stormy Few Days

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will be the states where the weather is likely to make a notable change. The IMD indicates that parts of western and eastern UP might face light rains accompanied by thunderstorms on April 9. Such activity is forecast to continue into April 10 and 11, especially in western areas.

Bihar is likely to get rain from 1st April to 7 April. Patna and adjoining districts are affected by thunderstorms with wind activity and even hail activity, especially in Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Purnia, Darbhanga, and Madhubani.

This unseasonal weather has come as a welcome break for farmers and local populations. However caution due to possible hail damage is warranted.

Himalayan States Set to Experience Snowfall and Rain

So much for the higher altitude weather upheaval! Rain and snow are forecast across Himachal Pradesh from 8th April. This will also affect Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Chamba, Kinnaur, and Kangra by a fresh spell of snow and rain.

In comparison, Jammu and Kashmir might record rains starting on 9th April. Maximum temperatures across these areas are still hovering around 20 degrees Celcius as a stark contrast to the blazing plains.

Heatwave in Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan

While the rains in north Delhi NCR are caught in a rising heat wave. Temperatures are likely to breach 42 degrees Celsius with a severe heat wave looming for the coming five days.

Gujarat, Rajasthan, and the western part of Madhya Pradesh shall remain sweltering in torturous heat. The IMD has given a warning that hot weather would continue in Punjab, Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra for the next 10 to 11 days.

A Nation Between Fire and Ice

This week India finds its own standing weather extremes from icy showers in the mountains to blistering heat in the plains.

Whether you are in the shade of the Himalayas or in the blistering sun of Rajasthan, it all boils down to being updated and prepared with this unpredictable weather.
