New Toll Policy: Pay 3000 and enjoy unlimited Highway Travel 

Government Plans Free Tolling, Thousands to Save for Commuters This policy would not only change road travel experience for the citizens but also has been in the wings for the central government to roll out a life-altering toll policy. The country is most likely going to feature an annual pass priced at Rs 3,000, which will
allow the vehicle owner to travel across national and state highways and expressways without paying a toll at any plaza.

 

Local Relief to Nationwide Liberty

Currently, most such benefits are available as monthly passes for limited access at specific toll booths, mainly assigned for local commuters. But soon, with the new policy, this scenario is going to change dramatically.

It would be the Rs 3,000 annual pass covering the whole country by eliminating repeated toll payments from a
traveler’s itinerary. To add, this seems to conceptualize it as super-friendly: not requiring a different pass to motorists; fastag accounts would be directly linked to this plan for a smoother process.

 

Replacing Toll Booths with Distance-Based Charges

As opposed to fixed toll booths, a new per kilometer levy model will be created as a new policy. The officials expect to charge approximately Rs 50 using this system for every 100 kilometers for cars traveling within the Indian borders-a clear and simplified system. This would augment transparency in the system while aiming to
halve travel charges in average scenarios.

 

Technology-Driven, Barrier-Free Future

One of the major focuses of the policy will be a complete abolition of physical toll booths across the globe. To make this happen, the government is ramping up the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

Three pilot projects have shown almost 98% accuracy in toll collection using ANPR, paving the way for a national roll-out in the near future. The first of these is expected to include the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Troubles with Contractors and Claims

Toll operators are the biggest hurdle because they need to renegotiate existing contracts so that they do not lose revenues under the system.

To compensate, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed compensating them. They are going to maintain completely digital logs of vehicles, and any revenue loss will be compensated by the government with a formula of government definition.

An earlier consideration was that of a lifetime pass-Rs 30,000 worth, but consumer interest was not good, and regulatory issues inhibited consideration of the plan. The practical option of an annual pass, however, went past all hurdles.

Improving Banks, Roadside Amenities and the Financial System

For toll enforcement, banks have been equipped with tough new instruments such as minimum balances required for FASTag and harsher penalties. Advisors have also suggested giving banks a stake in the roadside infrastructure to improve the efficiency of toll collection and increase profitability for all concerned.

Nationwide Integration into Perspective

The federal government is in contact with state authorities to coordinate the inclusion of their road networks into this system. High-tech sensors and surveillance cameras are being fitted onto the highways to facilitate the smooth tracking of vehicles.

Congestion at toll gates is still an issue. To expedite implementation and facilitate free movement, the government has held various meetings in recent weeks.

With the impending formal announcement of the policy, commuters across India may soon expect faster, economical, and intelligent way road travel, thereby entering an era of highway independence.
