Noida’s JP Aman Society suffers major structural damage after a fierce storm; over 40 flats are hit as doors and windows blow off, and residents slam the poor construction quality.
A Storm That Shook the Foundations of Trust
A seemingly ordinary Friday evening in Sector-151, Noida changed to something dramatic when a storm hit their locale and rendered them helpless, JP Aman Society of their lives Monday evening, a story with the UP. A hiccup of sad weather went wrong, and what should have been a freak storm served as a sobering example of shoddy construction.
Over 40 flats have had their doors and windows blown off in the high-rise, with windows either swinging back through the homes, smashing into each other, or careening around the society.
Construction Nightmare Goes Viral
When the storm hit, everything went to hell. Whole doors were blown in, glass shattered and flying to walls then slammed inward, air conditioning units fell off their rails. A roof came off another building entirely; cars were quite literally marbles in the rubble, all over the place. And viral videos documented the devastation as it unfolded — revealing a shocking failure in building safety that people say is decades long past ignored.
Residents Raise a Storm of Their Own
Homes began to be questioned, all as fear was boiling over into outrage. “If one storm can do that, what of us during earthquake?” one agitated resident said. A lot wanted compensation for the damages and were looking for the investigation of used goods in construction hired. Ex-JP Aman, where more than 3500 families live has now become a cautionary tale.
Not the First Red Flag
That isn’t the first time the standard of build has come under fire. Residents have long been wary after previous plaster cracking and damage of internal walls. Friday’s storm blew away any false dichotomy — this is no longer about maintenance, it’s faulty framing.
Disaster Averted, But Warning Loud and Clear
Most were in during the storm; thankfully, no one was hurt as a result of what Mother Nature unleashed. But the near-misses, the doors that swing in, the glass that shatters, the booths that cave in — painted a different picture. The Mother Dairy outlet, that too on premise, could not withstand the force of the wind and got uprooted from the foundation.
A Broken Society in More Ways Than One
JP Aman Society now stands not just with broken doors and shattered windows, but also broken trust. As the storm settles, one thing is clear: this was more than a natural disaster — it was a man-made one, waiting to happen.
