Ola Roadster X : The Indian electric two-wheeler market is once again in a stir, as Ola Electric’s new scooter Roadster X is finally going to reach customers. This scooter was first revealed earlier this year, and the company had then said that deliveries would start from next month. But when full payment was started from customers in March itself and no delivery was made, questions started arising.

After a long wait, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal himself made it clear last month that the first Roadster X has come out of the production line. And now it is officially confirmed that customers across India will start getting this scooter from tomorrow. However, initially it can be delivered to different cities one by one, in which Bengaluru customers are expected to get the scooter first.

Ola Roadster X has been launched in three different variants. The base variant has a 2.5 kWh battery, the mid variant has a 3.5 kWh battery and the top variant has a 4.5 kWh battery. All variants are equipped with an in-house designed electric motor that generates a maximum power of 7 kW. This same motor has been installed in all three variants, which makes the performance quite strong.

The top speed of the base model is 105 kmph, while the mid and top variants can reach speeds of up to 118 kmph. Talking about acceleration, the base variant accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 3.4 seconds, while the other two variants do this work even faster in 3.1 seconds.

Talking about the range, the model with a 2.5 kWh battery can cover a distance of 140 km on a single charge. At the same time, the variant with a 3.5 kWh battery offers a range of 196 km and the largest variant with a 4.5 kWh battery offers a range of 252 km. These figures have been given by the company and there may be some difference in the real world.

Charging time is different in each variant. The base variant takes 6.2 hours to charge 80 percent, the mid variant takes 4.6 hours and the top variant takes 5.9 hours to charge up to 80 percent.

Talking about design and features, the Roadster X has 17-inch alloy wheels. Along with this, it gets cruise control, three riding modes, regenerative braking, brake-by-wire technology, front disc and rear drum brakes. For safety, it also has a single-channel ABS system.

Talking about the price, the starting price of Ola Roadster X has been kept at Rs 1 lakh, which is for the base variant. The price of mid and top variants goes up to Rs 1.25 lakh. All these prices are ex-showroom, that is, the on-road price may be slightly higher.

Overall, Ola Roadster X is another big attempt by the company to provide premium but affordable electric scooters to the Indian youth. After several weeks of delay, deliveries are now starting, which has raised the expectations and excitement of the customers. Now it remains to be seen how well this scooter really lives up to its promise once it hits the road.
