Farmers Wait for 20th Installment, But Website Crashes
As Indian farmers look forward to the highly awaited 20th tranche of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the unexpected problem arose. The official website of the scheme – pmkisan.gov.in – went offline unexpectedly. The technical issue has caused panic and confusion among beneficiaries, especially those trying critical activities such as e-KYC and payment status of their installment.
An Overview of PM Kisan Yojana
Initiated by the Government of India, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana provides farmers direct financial assistance. ₹6,000 is credited every year under the scheme in three equated installments of ₹2,000 each. The scheme has been a relief to many small and marginal farmers from all over the nation, enabling them to keep agricultural costs as well as household bills running.
This time, the 20th episode is in store, and although the official date for releasing it hasn’t been released yet, the farmers are getting impatient. Sadly, at the moment they need access most, the official website has become non-responsive.
What’s Going On With the Website?
Users attempting to access pmkisan.gov.in are now experiencing issues. The site, which operated as usual until yesterday, has been off since morning today. Farmers who visit the portal cannot see any information, check their application status, or even login for simple updates.
This Isn’t the First Time
Interestingly, this is not the first time that the PM Kisan portal has broken down prior to the release of an installment. The same had occurred just prior to the release of the 17th part, when already the file had been sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After that, the site had also crashed for a brief time period possibly because of heavy traffic or backend updation.
Likely Reason: Backend Updates for the 20th Installment?
Though no official explanation has been made public by the authorities so far, the experts suspect that the site may be under backend maintenance pertaining to the next installment. Officials may be adding new beneficiary information or conducting trial runs for easier dispensation of money.
What Problems Are Farmers Facing
With the portal not functioning, some farmers are left midway. Farmers who haven’t done their e-KYK, changed their mobile numbers, or even wished to check the status of their payments aren’t able to do so. The reason is that the portal is the sole official platform through which these critical tasks can be done. Its non-availability has halted the operations of numerous users.
What Should Farmers Do Now?
Farmers are asked to remain patient and visit the portal at intervals. In case the problem is still there, farmers can also approach their local Common Service Center (CSC) for help. The government will restore access shortly and may release an official notification about the downtime.
As the 20th instalment is nearing, everyone is waiting for the PM Kisan portal eagerly now. Fingers crossed, they will soon sort out the problems so that farmers can receive their much-awaited money without any delay.
