Dream Honeymoon Ends in Brutal Murder
Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old entrepreneur from Indore, had started a new journey in his life. He had married Sonam on May 11 and a few days later the couple had visited Meghalaya on their honeymoon.
Everything seemed perfect until May 23, when both suddenly went missing. Their disappearance left everyone worried. Ten days later, on June 2, Raja’s decomposed body was found deep in a gorge beneath Wah Syiadong waterfall. The peaceful trip had ended in a horrific crime.
Wife Sonam and Her Lover Accused of Murder
As people attempted to make sense of Raja’s death, the police released a shocker. His wife Sonam, who had been missing, wasn’t a victim but the main suspect. She reportedly plotted with boyfriend Raj Kushwaha to murder her husband, said the officials.
After staying off the radar for two weeks, Sonam was finally found in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9. Both she and her alleged partner in crime were taken into custody. The betrayal stunned everyone who had once prayed for her safety.
Influencer Sister Faces Criticism Amid Grief
While the nation mourned and expressed outrage over the murder, Raja’s sister Srishti Raghuvanshi, a social media influencer, found herself in the middle of another controversy. Just days after her brother’s body was found, she shared nine videos on Instagram in 24 hours—many of them promoting brands. One reel showed her endorsing a local mobile shop, and another advertised a massage parlour.
People didn’t hold back. They accused her of taking her brother’s death to seek opinions and followers. Some called her out for being more interested in “reels than reality,” and pointed out how her follower count had crossed 400,000 during this time.
After facing backlash, Srishti deleted a few of the videos, including the massage parlour reel she posted on June 6 four days after Raja’s body was discovered.

What began as a newlywed’s holiday turned into a murder case, a police investigation, and now a media storm. As the legal process unfolds, the internet continues to debate not only the crime itself but how people connected to it are responding online. One thing is clear, this story has shaken hearts and raised questions no one was ready for.
