Renault is soon preparing to launch a brand new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market, which has been named Renault Boreal. This SUV will actually be a larger version of Duster, but it will be quite different and more premium in terms of looks and features.
There will be changes in design and interior
In Renault Boreal, the company has given priority to more space and comfort. Its cabin will not only be bigger but it will also have a good boot space. The exterior design will have a new grille, rugged elements and 19 inch optional alloy wheels. This SUV will look different from Duster and will look more modern and bold.
Features and technology
The latest technology has been used in this SUV. A large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and many smart features will be available. The seats can be split and folded, which can create many types of layouts. The boot space will be around 667 liters, which can be considered the highest in this segment.
Powerful hybrid engine options
Several powertrain options will be offered in Renault Boreal. The most powerful variant will get the Hybrid 155 engine giving power of 155hp, which has two electric motors with a petrol engine and a 1.4kWh battery. This setup comes with a clutchless 6-speed automatic gearbox and can run on electric mode up to 80% in city driving.
The second variant will be TCe 140, which will have a 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine and 48V mild hybrid system. This variant will give power of 140hp and will have a 6-speed manual transmission.
Apart from this, TCe 130 4×4 version will also come which will be ready for off-roading. It will have advanced features like 5 types of drive modes (Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, Eco, Auto) and Hill Descent Control.
India launch and prospects
The Renault Boreal will be launched in India after the next-generation version of the Duster, which is expected in 2025. The Boreal can also be seen on Indian roads soon after that.
