An outright new bike, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is an all-new design. A liquid-cooled engine with 452cc displacement producing around 40 bhp and 40 Nm torque powers it; a 6-speed gearbox with ride-by-wire throttle and slipper clutch all complete it.
Smooth power delivery, great for off-roading, is given by this new engine. The Himalayan now sports a new digital circular display that includes Google Maps, riding modes, and switchable ABS. It is all set for serious adventure with a 21-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel, long-travel suspension, and extremely high ground clearance.
KTM 390 Adventure is all about sharper performance and lighter feel. A 373cc engine married to a liquid-cooling system is capable of 43.5 bhp and 37 Nm of torque. The engine here was lighter than that of the Himalayan, but the KTM was quick and much more fun on the highways.
The 390 Adventure has a sporty nature that makes it nimbler while touring, especially in city and highway rides, thanks to a TFT display, traction control, cornering ABS, a quickshifter (in the top variant), and variants with adjustable suspension.
In terms of comfort, the Himalayan 450 retains a more relaxed upright position and better all-terrain capability. KTM, on the other hand, puts the latest and the best when it comes to entertaining electronics and a lightweight chassis. You will enjoy the Himalayan more for extended rides off-road and slow, hostile rides. Highway riding isn’t fun without some scatter off-road enjoyment, and that’s just more natural on the 390 Adventure.
The prices of the competitive bikes are very close. The Himalayan 450 starts at about ₹2.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and the KTM 390 Adventure’s starting price is around ₹3 lakh.
