Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has introduced one small but significant change to the exam dates for recruitment of NTPC (Graduate Level). The exam was earlier arranged to be held from June 5 through June 23, 2025. But now RRB has pushed it to June 24. Only one extra day, but to lakhs of job aspirants, this is a significant change.

Exam Schedule Updated by RRB

This examination is for filling graduate posts in the Non-Technical Popular Category. CBT will be conducted in shifts for 16 days from June 5 to June 24, 2025, by RRB. It was scheduled to be conducted earlier for 15 days.

Release Dates of Admit Card and Exam City Slip

RRB will issue exam city slips and travel passes 10 days prior to the exam. This allows the journey plan to be made. Admit cards will be issued 4 days prior to the examination day.

Vacancy Details: Graduate and Undergraduate Levels

There are 8,113 vacancies at the graduate level. Some of the posts at the graduate level are station master, typist, and goods train manager. A total of 3,445 posts are vacant for undergraduate applicants as well. The schedule for the UG posts will be out shortly.

More than 1.21 crore students have applied for both levels together.

Some major job posts for graduates are as follows:

Goods Train Manager: 3,144 posts

Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor: 1,736 posts

Senior Clerk cum Typist: 732 posts

Station Master: 994 posts

Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist: 1,507 posts

Selection Process and Test Phases

The exam process includes two CBT phases—CBT-1 and CBT-2. Later, as per the post, you will be tested with a typing test or computer-based aptitude test (CBAT).

For instance, aspirants for station master will sit for CBAT. Typist will require a typing test. Some like goods train manager will have document checks and medical checkups before CBT.

CBT Exam Pattern: Stage 1 and Stage 2 Explained

CBT-1 is for all. 90 minutes with 100 questions:

General Awareness: 40

Maths: 30

Reasoning: 30

CBT-2 same but 90 minutes for 120 questions:

General Awareness: 50

Maths: 35

Reasoning: 35

Keep in mind, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Important Instructions and Shortlisting Criteria

Only top scorers from CBT-1 will move to CBT-2. RRB will screen 15 times the required number of positions. So if you’re aiming for one of those 8,113 posts, be prepared to fight hard—but smart.
