Saurabh Mukherjea warns India is entering a post-job era. White-collar work is vanishing, AI is replacing coders, and salaried jobs are dying. Can entrepreneurship save the middle class?

The End of the Office Dream?

The one big “it has to be like this” mantra that India’s middle class clung to for decades: get degree, get secured job; climb Corporate ladder. However, the ladder today may have a few rungs missing—or even worse, it is disappearing. Saurabh Mukherjea, CEO of Marcellus Investment Managers has the traditional salaried job on its last legs. It? Then, it’s not gonna wear a tie.

AI Is Rewriting the Rules

In his podcast Beyond the Paycheck Mukherjea simply called this decade the dawn of ”salaried employment is dead” Mukherjea reasoned? AI & Automation are not just supporting each other, they are taking over. Pointing to Google saying a third of its coding is produced now by AI, he sounded the alarm for Indian industries- particularly IT, ITES and then some finance people .

No More Job Security Blanket

The notion of spending 30 years or longer with one company and, finally, turning 60 with a pension? Mukherjee says that such a notion is as old as dial-up internet. Corporate India’s safety net is rapidly unraveling. When machines displace the high skill tasks that educated workers were once paid for, jobs are disappearing in the background. But it is not about losing jobs, it is identity in a system that promised us lifelong employment.

Entrepreneurship: The New Survival Plan

He says that the future is, in fact, just not for jobseekers but job creators.

Time to Rethink What We Teach Our Kids

The jobs won’t be here, he said, pressuring Indian families to desist from shaping kids for the no longer existing world. Rather than sculpting the next generation of cubicle folk, we should be igniting the fire within a spirit of innovation. As algorithms take no days off in an algorithm world, you may be left with your painting skills to carve your path.
