Tata Harrier EV Launched : Tata Motors has finally launched its powerful electric SUV, Tata Harrier EV in India, with a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This vehicle was awaited for a long time and now that it has arrived in the market, it is clear that Tata has prepared it not only for cities but also for adventure lovers. It is a performance-focused EV with all-wheel drive technology and off-road features.

Great design and powerful features

Tata Harrier EV has a dual motor setup, which powers both the front and rear wheels. This vehicle has special features like ‘Boost Mode’ which further strengthens its off-road capabilities. Apart from this, terrain modes like ‘Normal’, ‘Mud Rust’, ‘Custom’, ‘Rock Crawl’, ‘Snow/Grass’ and ‘Sand’ have been given, which allow it to run on any kind of road or condition.

Its design has also been made special, which includes 5 exclusive colors – Stealth Black, Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Gray and Pristine White. Talking about the inside of the SUV, it has a large 14.5-inch QLED touchscreen, which is the world’s first QLED display in a car. It also has the facility of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as more than 25 inbuilt apps.

Excellent performance and range

Tata Motors claims that the Harrier EV gives an MIDC certified range of 627 km. However, in real life driving, its range can be around 480 to 505 km. This car comes in two battery options – one 65 kWh and the other 75 kWh, of which the larger battery gives more power and more range.

The front motor in this SUV is from Tata AutoComp which gives a power of 116 kW and the rear motor is from Schaeffler which generates 175 kW (235 bhp) of power and 340 Nm of torque. Overall, the peak torque of the vehicle is 504 Nm. It catches the speed of 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, which makes it very fast.

New standards of battery and charging

The battery of Harrier EV has been manufactured in India and it gets support from local suppliers. It uses Tata’s new Acti.ev+ platform, which is based on OMEGA Arc but has been specially designed for electric vehicles. This vehicle can be driven without hesitation even on a climb of more than 50%.

Talking about charging, Harrier EV supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which can give a range of up to 250 km in just 15 minutes. Also, it takes only 25 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%. Apart from this, the facility of 7.2 kW home charger and 3.3 kW portable charger is also available.

It is also very smart and advanced from inside

Many technical improvements have been made in the cabin of Harrier EV. It has a digital instrument cluster in which EV-focused graphics are available. Also, features like 540 degree camera view, Level 2 ADAS feature taken from Intel Mobileye, and Summon Mode with Auto Parking are also present. Dolby Atmos audio system can also be enjoyed in this SUV.

Variants and launch details

The base variant of Harrier EV has been priced at Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It has two drive configurations – rear wheel drive and all wheel drive, which are decided according to the battery variants. The vehicle also features V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) technology, making it even more useful.

Booking and future planning

The official booking of Tata Harrier EV will start from July 2, 2025. After this, the company is preparing for the next big offering – a new version of Tata Sierra which will come in both petrol and electric options. Apart from this, work is also going on fast on the Tata Avinya lineup which will be the company’s luxury EV range.
