Amid growing competition in the SUV segment, Tata Motors is now working to strengthen its portfolio. This year, the company is going to launch three new SUVs, one of which will be electric and the other two will be petrol versions.

Tata Harrier EV will be launched soon

Tata’s most popular electric SUV, Harrier EV, is being launched in India early next month. This vehicle has been specially designed keeping in mind long range and powerful performance. Harrier EV will be available in two versions – one with a single motor and the other with dual motor.

The company claims that the range of this SUV will be more than 500 km on a single full charge, which will make it one of the most powerful EVs in its segment. It will also get advanced features like DC fast charging as well as V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle).

Harrier EV is built on the Gen 2 EV platform, which is an updated version of OMEGA Arc. Its top variants are expected to get a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery and it will be able to give around 500 Nm of torque.

Petrol version of Harrier and Safari will also be launched

Till now Tata has been selling Harrier and Safari only with diesel engines, but by the end of this year, their petrol versions are also going to come in the market. The company is preparing a new 1.5-liter GDi petrol engine, which will power both these vehicles.

The power of this new petrol engine will be around 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque. This engine will come with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox and customers will also get the option of a 7-speed DCT automatic. Earlier this engine was to be launched in the Curvv SUV, but now it will start with Harrier and Safari.

Currently available diesel engine information

Currently both Safari and Harrier are given a 2.0 liter Kryotec diesel engine, which is taken from Fiat. This engine produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. It has both manual and automatic transmission options.

Glimpse of other upcoming Tata models

Tata is not stopping at just new variants of Harrier and Safari. The company is also working on its next-generation Sierra SUV, which can be revealed later this year in both ICE (petrol/diesel) and EV versions.

Apart from this, the company’s premium electric platform Avinya will also debut from 2026. A total of five models are to be launched in this series – which are currently codenamed from P1 to P5.

Apart from this, projects like Sierra and Avinya show that Tata is now planning not only at domestic level but also at global level.
