Senior IAS and PCS Officers Give New Commands in Major Departments

In a sensational turn of events, the Punjab Government has transferred six Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and one Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officer. Jitendra Jorwal Takes a Step Back Into the Limelight Again

Of all names doing rounds in the political circles about this reshuffle, one person stands taller than most others – Jitendra Jorwal. He is an authority on administrative functioning sharp enough not to find an official posting for close to a month. And now becomes the new Taxation Commissioner – a post with heavy responsibilities at a time of focus on strengthening financial systems in Punjab. Girish Dayalan: In charge of Two Important Portfolios

Another very important development in this reshuffle is the reinstatement of Girish Dayalan. Recently, Dayalan was kept waiting for a new assignment after being transferred from his previous post. He has also been assigned to two powerful roles – Additional Commissioner of Excise and Director General of School Education. With such holding of assignments under one roof, the government has shown a high level of confidence in Dayalan’s leadership. Commission, right at the focal point of the Commission’s efforts for justice and civil liberties in the state, Vinay Bublani is named the Commissioner of Patiala Division, with the very important task of looking after a crucial area of Punjab. Meanwhile, Mohinder Pal took over as Secretary of Industries and Commerce, a department very much associated with economic growth and related investment plans in the state.

The other important addition to the new team holding office is GPS Sahota, who has taken charge as the Executive Director of the Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation. This is an important office in very concrete activities to uplift the neglected sections of the poor and marginalized members of society. There might be a greater chance for Sahota to enhance the government’s mission of inclusive development through the promotion of this office.
