TVS Apache RTR 310 and KTM Duke 250, both bikes fall in this category and are considered perfect for street riding. But when it comes to choosing one of these two, confusion is inevitable. Design and Look

The design of TVS Apache RTR 310 is quite aggressive and gives a sporty feel just by looking at it. Its headlamp unit comes with dual LED setup, which gives a very sharp look to the bike. It has strong body graphics and muscular tank, which gives it a completely racing look.

On the other hand, KTM Duke 250 has always been known for its naked street look. Its new design is more angular and sharp. LED lighting, thin but stylish tail section and special KTM style make it very popular among the youth.

The TVS Apache RTR 310 has a 312.2cc liquid-cooled engine, which gives a power of about 35.6 PS and a torque of 28.7 Nm. It has a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, which keeps the bike under control even at high speed.

The KTM Duke 250 has a 248.8cc single-cylinder engine, which generates 30 PS of power and 25 Nm of torque. This engine also comes with a 6-speed gearbox and performs well in city as well as highway riding.

In terms of performance, the Apache RTR 310 seems a little more powerful, but the torque delivery of the Duke 250 is smooth and refined.

Riding comfort and features

The Apache RTR 310 has 5 riding modes – Urban, Rain, Sport, Track and Supermoto. Apart from this, it also has advanced features like connected TFT screen, bidirectional quick shifter, cruise control, traction control and smart xConnect. Its suspension setup is also quite balanced which gives a better ride even on bad roads.

The KTM Duke 250 has a single riding mode, but its suspension is quite stiff, which gives very good high speed stability. It also has basic but useful features like digital console, LED lighting and slipper clutch.

Braking and safety

The Apache RTR 310 gets front and rear disc brakes with dual channel ABS, as well as braking feel and grip are quite reliable. The response of ABS also changes according to the riding modes, which improves safety and control.

The KTM Duke 250 also gets dual channel ABS, but it does not have mode-based control. Braking power is good but can be considered a little less advanced than Apache.

Mileage and real world performance

The mileage of TVS Apache RTR 310 is said to be around 30–35 kmpl, while the KTM Duke 250 gives an average of about 28–32 kmpl in the real world. Both the bikes are performance-oriented, so one should not expect too much on mileage, but Apache is slightly ahead.

Price and value for money

The price of TVS Apache RTR 310 starts at around  Rs 2.43 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The price increases according to its different variants.

The price of KTM Duke 250 is around Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it does not have as many features as Apache, but the brand value and performance make it a strong option.
