Two Premium SUVs Launching This Week in India to Rival Toyota Fortuner – VW Tiguan R Line & Skoda Kodiaq 2025

If you are thinking of buying a premium SUV and Toyota Fortuner is in your budget, then you will soon have two more great options. This week, two new global SUVs are going to enter India, which are not only strong in terms of features but are also going to compete with Fortuner in style and road presence.
The most special thing about both these SUVs is that they come with modern design, great suspension setup and advanced features. Let’s know about them
1. 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan R Line
Volkswagen’s new generation Tiguan SUV is being launched in India on April 14 and it will come only in the R Line variant. This version will be more sporty, stylish and full of technology than before.
Engine and Performance: It will get a 2.0L turbo petrol engine which will give 201 hp power and 320 Nm torque. Along with this, 7-speed DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive system will be standard.
Design and Features: 19-inch “Coventry” alloy wheels, electronic shock absorbers and electronic differential lock will make its ride smooth and fun.
Cabin Highlights:
- 15-inch touchscreen infotainment
- 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- Rotary dial with OLED display
- 30-color ambient lighting
- Front seats get massage, ventilation and heating functions
- Three zone climate control and dual wireless charger
Safety: It will get 21 level 2 ADAS features and a total of 9 airbags, but the LED matrix headlights available in Europe will not be available in India.
Price: Since it is a CBU (Fully Imported) unit, its price can go up to around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
2. 2025 Skoda Kodiaq (2nd Gen)
The new generation model of Skoda’s popular 7-seater SUV Kodiaq will be launched in India on April 17. It is bigger in size than before and premium touches will be seen at many places.
Engine and Performance: The Kodiaq also has the same 2.0L turbo petrol engine that is in the Tiguan, which outputs 201 hp and 320 Nm. 7-speed DSG and all-wheel drive will be available as standard.
Mileage: According to ARAI, this SUV gives a mileage of 14.86 Km/L.
Variants: Initially two trims will be available – Sportline and L&K. Initially only the 7-seater version will be launched.

Price: It will be assembled in India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, so it will be slightly cheaper than the Tiguan. It is expected to start at ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom).
