What is UGC NET?
UGC NET i.e. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is a national level examination, which gives students from all over the country the opportunity to become Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor. The exam is conducted twice a year and now its June session has started.

- Online application starts 16 April 2025
- Last date to apply 7 May 2025 (till 11:59 pm)
- Last date to deposit fees 8 May 2025
- Application correction window 9 to 10 May 2025
- Exam dates (tentative): 21 June to 30 June 2025
Qualification Required
- General category / EWS candidates must have at least 55% marks in a Master’s degree.
- OBC (Non Creamy Layer) / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender get 5% relaxation i.e. 50% marks are sufficient.
- Candidates who are in the final year of their Masters or who have given the exam but the result has not come, can also apply.
NET form has to be filled in the same subject which you have studied in post graduation. If that subject is not in the list, then application can be made in a similar subject.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for JRF is 30 years (as on 1 June 2025).
There is no age limit for Assistant Professor / PhD.

OBC (NCL)/EWS ₹600/-
OBC (NCL)/EWS: SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender ₹325/-
Fees will be paid only through online mode (debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI)
Documents required in the ugc net 2025 application form
- Recent passport-size photo (colour or black and white, 80% face should be visible)
- Scanned copy of signature
- Photograph size: 10 kb to 200 kb
- Signature size: 4 kb to 30 kb
- Qualification certificate (if available)
- Category certificate (for getting a reservation)
- All documents should be neatly scanned in JPG format.
Documents to carry on the day of examination: ugc net 2025 application form
- Printed copy of the admit card (downloaded from the NTA website).
- The same passport-size photo which was pasted in the form.
- A valid photo ID proof, such as – Aadhar card, PAN card, passport, or driving license.
- The name written on the photo ID must match the name given on the admit card.
How to fill the UGC NET 2025 application form?
Step 1 – Register
- First of all, go to the official website of UGC NET

- Go to the Candidate Activity section of the homepage and click on the UGC NET June 2025 Apply/Login link
- Now, click on New Registration
- Read the instructions carefully and proceed by agreeing
- Fill the registration form – fill in name, mobile number, email ID, date of birth etc.
- Click on Submit – You will get the login ID and password

- Now fill in the required information like educational qualification, category details, address, etc.
- Upload documents.
- Pay the application fee.

Exam pattern and syllabus information
The exam consists of two papers – both are in the same session
Paper 1 – General Teaching, Research Aptitude, etc.
Paper 2 – Based on the subject in which you have done post-graduation
Both papers are objective type (MCQ)
