If you have lost your Aadhaar card, don’t panic. Getting it back is easier than you think, thanks to simple online and offline methods provided by UIDAI.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) knows how important Aadhaar is to all of us, and that is the reason they have given online as well as offline ways to get your Aadhaar number. You may do it at home online or go to a nearby center—whatever you like more.

Recover Online (If Mobile Number Is Linked)

If your Aadhaar is connected to your mobile number, then you’re in luck. Just go to the official portal of UIDAI, click on “Retrieve UID/EID,” and initiate the process.

You will have to provide your full name, mobile number or email ID associated with Aadhaar, and get over a basic captcha. Once done, click “Send OTP.” After you enter the one-time password received on your phone or email, you’ll get your Aadhaar number or enrolment ID by SMS, for free.

No Linked Mobile? Go the Offline Route

If your phone is not linked, don’t worry, you can still obtain your Aadhaar details. Go to the nearest Aadhaar enrollment or updation center, give your basic information such as name, gender, and location (district or PIN code), and undergo biometric authentication.

Once your identity is confirmed, they’ll hand you a printed e-Aadhaar for a small fee of ₹30.

Step-by-Step Help Without Linked Mobile

Here’s a quick recap if your mobile number isn’t linked:

Go to the nearest Aadhaar center.

Share your name, gender, and address details.

Do your fingerprint or iris scan.

You will receive a ₹30 printout of your Aadhaar if everything checks out.

Need Help? Call UIDAI Helpline 1947

Can’t visit in person? Just call 1947. Speak to a representative, share your full name and date of birth. If your info is correct, they’ll give you your EID.

Call again, and input your EID, date of birth, and PIN number and follow the IVRS directions. If all the info checks out, your Aadhaar number will show up on screen, for free.

Lost the Physical Copy? Get a Fresh Print

If you’ve misplaced the Aadhaar letter that came by post, go to an Aadhaar center with your UID or EID. After biometric confirmation, you’ll receive a fresh printout of your e-Aadhaar, again for just ₹30.
