After weeks of waiting, worrying, and watching the sky, people in Uttar Pradesh might finally get the news they’ve been hoping for. The monsoon is likely to arrive on June 18, and not just with a drizzle, it’s bringing along heavy rain and strong winds, especially in 51 districts. It’s the kind of news that brings both relief and a bit of tension.

Relief from the Heat, But Not for Long

Lately, the weather’s been playing tricks. One moment, clouds roll in, giving hope, the next, the sun blazes back, hotter than before. A few areas, mostly in Western UP, did experience a stroke of luck with light to moderate showers over the past few days. The temperature fell just enough to make it easier for humans to breathe, if only for a few hours.

But towards the evening, the heat returned as if it never departed. People were back under fans and coolers. Farmers, meanwhile, stared at their thirsty fields, just waiting for a proper downpour.

Now here comes the big update. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a rainfall alert for 51 districts in UP. And it’s not just a random sprinkle we’re talking about this could be the kind of rain that makes headlines.

June 18 – Monsoon Set to Arrive

If weather experts are right, the monsoon will enter UP through Gorakhpur on June 18. Earlier, there was talk of an early arrival, but the clouds had other plans. If it comes this time, it will have some genuine hope particularly for the farmers who are praying for rains to save their crops.

So maybe it is time to whip out the raincoats and umbrellas.
