The sky over Uttar Pradesh was overcast on Sunday morning. The day was gloomy and rainy in Lucknow and many other cities because of the dark clouds that formed before sunrise. Not only has the monsoon arrived, but it is already descending with full force. More than 50 districts might get heavy rain today, according to the latest forecast. This will bring relief from the summer heat, but people should stay safe, carry umbrellas, and plan their day carefully.
Over the past few days, the weather across UP has shifted sometimes suddenly. Saturday night, Lucknow saw a light drizzle that continued into the morning as thick clouds hovered silently. Meanwhile, in southern UP, rainfall hit hard. Sonbhadra topped the charts with a whopping 136 mm of rain, and Shravasti wasn’t far behind at 110.2 mm. Meteorologists believe this pattern isn’t going anywhere just yet.
Orange Alert: These Districts Could See Very Heavy Rainfall
The weather department has sounded an orange alert across some districts, and that is a possibility of very heavy rain. Areas like Lakhimpur Kheri, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and nearby regions are included. Also the people who are living in these areas should be prepare for waterlogging, traffic congestion, and slippery roads.
Expected Downpour in These Districts
A separate list of areas could witness heavy showers as well. Rainfall is likely in several districts such as Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, and Prayagraj. Other likely areas are Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, and Varanasi, along with Jaunpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, and Siddharthnagar. Balrampur, Bahraich, Sitapur, Kanpur, Raebareli, Amethi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and a several adjacent districts may also experience shower.
Orange Alert for Thunderstorms and Lightning in These Districts
Along with rain, thunderstorms and lightning have been cautioned against in some districts. These are basically the said districts along with some others such as Budaun, Etawah, Sambhal, and Amroha. Extra precaution should be taken against going out during storms if at all possible.
Rainfall Alert in 30 States Across India
The IMD says the rainy spell isn’t limited to UP. As of now, 30 Indian states including Delhi, Punjab, Himachal, MP, Gujarat, Bengal, Bihar, and even coastal regions like Goa and Kerala are on alert. From now till June 27, many places will see scattered storms, lightning, and gusty winds. Monsoon is officially here and it’s not going unnoticed.
