First-Ever Bonus Bonanza from V-Mart Retail

A move getting a lot of eyeballs on Dalal Street, V-Mart Retail Ltd has for the first time announced a bonus share issue, and it is super big — 3 bonus shares for every 1 share held. The company, especially well placed in retail across India, is expected to make this ground-breaking announcement to the Naspers / JSE / OTSE customers at exchanges on May 2, 2025. Entrenched hopes sour among spooked security holders, but no record date yet for this windfall.

Details of the Bonus Share Issue

Official company filing said each share of face value ₹10 held by shareholders will get three more shares for free, absolutely, as per the terms. This is a very kind thing to do in order to boost liquidity and appease the long-term investors. One of its hallmark dividend payout days hallmark, V-Mart has, however, delivered a first-class bumper bonus issue in a big way. The last time something even remotely similar was to happened was in 2013, where that whole process was mostly dividends, not dilution.

Stock Performance: A Silent Star in the Market

Even as the major markets are just moderately positive, V-Mart Retail has quietly gained by 51% during this one year just above NIFTY which has gone up by 11% so far. The stock closed at ₹3,404, down marginally at 2% over last trading day Friday (Thursday was a holiday). Nonetheless, the minor dip does not wash the blistering upward course.

Volatility Wrapped in Opportunity

Over a 52-week run, V-Mart stock plodded between ₹2,058.70 (low) and ₹4,517.30 (high) in its journey. With a market cap of around ₹6,754 Crore, it is undoubtedly a large player. According to market analysts, the bonus offer may undulate the stock a bit more downward and make it more affordable anyway, which should add fresh retail interest post-record date and volumes.

What Investors Should Know Before Jumping In

Although this announcement sounds like a golden ticket, the stock market operates under different risks inherently. A bonus share issue might lead to some additional volatility in the short term. So don’t take any hasty investment decision, find out from your financial advisor, and be on the lookout for the Record Date that decides the eligibility.
