VinFast Gears Up for India : Two Premium Electric SUVs to Challenge eVitara & BE 6

Another new player is going to enter the Indian electric car market. Vietnam’s company VinFast is preparing to launch two premium electric SUVs in India, which will directly challenge popular options like Maruti eVitara and BYD Seal 6.
VF 7 – First electric SUV will enter before Diwali
VinFast’s first offering will be the VF 7, which is a mid-size SUV and will come in the same segment as Tata Harrier EV. The length of this vehicle is 4,545 mm, width 1,890 mm and height 1,634 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,840 mm. VF 7 will be launched first in India and the company is planning to start its delivery before Diwali.
In Vietnam, this car comes in two single motor variants. The base model has a 130 kW (174 hp) motor and 59.6 kWh battery, which gives a range of about 430 km. The top variant gets 150 kW (201 hp) power, 310 Nm torque and 70.8 kWh battery, which gives a range of about 496 km. It also has an AWD version in the international market, which comes with 349 hp power and 75.3 kWh battery.
This SUV has a stylish exterior with 20-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles and dual headlamp setup. Talking about the inside, it has a large 12.9-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, vegan leather seats and driver seat with electric adjustment. Safety features include advanced features like 8 airbags, 360 camera, blind spot alert, rear traffic alert and lane assist.
VF 6 – More range and style in a small SUV
VF 6 will be the company’s second SUV which is a little smaller in size, but is no less than anyone in features and range. Its dimensions are 4,241 mm long, 1,834 mm wide and 1,580 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,730 mm, making it a direct competitor to cars like the Hyundai Creta Electric.
It will also come in two variants both will have a single motor setup. One will get 174 hp power and a range of 480 km, while the other variant will have 201 hp power and a range of around 460 km. Both will have a 59.6 kWh LFP battery.
The international model gets 17-inch alloy wheels, split LED lights, a large 12.9-inch touchscreen and over 20 safety features along with 8 airbags.
Assembly and launch timeline in India
VinFast will bring both these electric SUVs to India as CKD (completely knocked down) kits and assemble them in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The plant is expected to be operational by June 2025.
Conclusion:
VinFast’s VF 6 and VF 7 will come as a breath of fresh air in the EV segment in the Indian market. In terms of style, range and features, these vehicles can give tough competition to companies like Maruti and BYD. The wait for the launch is not too long now.
