What initially began as an exhilarating day at one of Bangalore’s famous Chinnaswamy Stadium outside on 4th June turned violent as a stampede killed 11 and injured dozens. As the authorities tried to get a handle on the fallout, a shocking plot twist was added—Virat Kohli was already a controversial cricket star.
Activist Blames Kohli for “Promoting Gambling” via IPL
Social activist H.M. Venkatesh filed a police complaint against the IPL, being run by big names like Kohli in Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park Police Station that it causes crowd frenzy and is the most addictive thing like gambling. Even though a police complaint has been registered, officially, no FIR against Kohli has been registered to date. Nevertheless, said they would be referring to the matter during the ongoing stampede inquiry into this matter. Until now, the cricketing icon has not responded publicly to the complaint.
Arrests Made—RCB Official Among Those Held
