Volkswagen to Launch Golf GTI and Tayron in India After Tiguan R-Line Debut

Volkswagen recently launched its luxurious SUV Tiguan R-Line in India, and now the company plans to bring two more luxury cars to the Indian market this year. Even though the entry of the electric ID.4 has been delayed, Volkswagen does not want to disappoint Indian customers.

Three imported Volkswagen vehicles will come to India this year

Volkswagen is planning to introduce a total of three imported cars in India this year. The first was the Tiguan R-Line, which has now arrived in the market. The two vehicles that are going to come after this are – Golf GTI and Tayron.

The popular hot hatch will come to India for the first time – Golf GTI

Car lovers in India were waiting for Golf for a long time. Now their wait is going to end. Volkswagen will launch the Golf GTI (8th generation) in India by June this year. It will be a full performance version, that is, it will be available only in the GTI variant.

It will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 261 horsepower and 370 Newton meter torque. Equipped with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, this car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

The second car will be a 7-seater SUV – Volkswagen Tayron

Volkswagen’s second offering is the Tayron SUV, which is actually a long wheelbase version of the Tiguan. This SUV will directly compete with the Skoda Kodiaq. The Tayron will be brought to India in CKD format, that is, the parts will come from outside but the final assembly will be done at the Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra.

Price and Availability

The Golf GTI could be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tayron SUV is expected to be priced above Rs 45 lakh. Considering the current price of the Skoda Kodiaq, the Tayron will also land in the same premium segment.
