As per the recent report of WABetaInfo WhatsApp has been testing support for Motion photos in Private Chat, Groups, and Channels. This feature was discovered in WhatsApp Beta version 2.25.8.12 for Android, currently available for beta testers on the Google Play Store. Development is still in progress but this is quite a hint that there shall be a significant change in the way the users of the platform will interface multimedia.
How Will Motion Photos Work?
Soon there will be a new button in the media picker that will encourage the user to select an image for sending it. The button will help to select either sending a regular image or sending a Motion Photo. Once enabled users can share lively and expressive pictures across individual chats and groups.
What of iPhone Users?
This Motion Photo would work like Live Photos for iOS users as this is a feature that already exists on iPhones. On Android as well this includes a brief segment of video and sound captured so that WhatsApp users, whether on Android or iPhone, can enjoy a similar experience.
