England’s Test captain Ben Stokes recently took a pretty big life change leaving of all things, drunk. It wasn’t some spontaneous choice. This year, surgeon too for a nasty tear in his psoas muscle while playing a Test match with New Zealand which meant months away. He knew that alcohol was healing him slower. So he stopped to try and heal strong and fast, instead of just recovery.

Everything began in December, Stokes was injured during the 3rd test against New Zealand. It was severe enough that he had to miss a couple of months. The answer was a slap to the face. Alcohol did nothing but worsen it. So he made a pact with himself, no alcohol until he was back up on the cricket field, playing like normal. That started January 2nd.
Focus on Fitness and Mental Strength
Stopping alcohol was only part of a much wider strategy. Stokes also talked freely about the importance of mental health, especially for athletes.
