Ingredients to make Makhana Kheer :
Foxnuts, 1 cup
Milk, 1 liter
Ghee, 1 tablespoon
Sugar, 1/4 to 1/2 cup (according to taste)
Cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
Saffron (optional): 5-6 strands
Chopped almonds and pistachios: 2 tablespoons
Recipe to make Makhana Kheer:
Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add foxnuts and fry on low flame for 4-5 minutes till they become crispy. Then cool them slightly and grind them coarsely (some foxnuts can also be kept whole). Boil milk on medium flame in a heavy-bottom pan. When the milk starts boiling, add foxnuts to it:
