Mahindra XUV 3XO Set to Arrive in Electric and Hybrid Versions Soon

Mahindra is now preparing to bring the facelift version of its popular SUV XUV300, XUV 3XO, in new avatars. This time the company can offer it not only in electric but also in hybrid version. Both versions are being prepared keeping in mind different customers, who are environmentally conscious.
XUV 3XO EV – Company’s next electric bet
Mahindra has been testing the electric model of XUV 3XO for the last few months. This vehicle has been seen many times during testing on the roads and now if reports are to be believed, it can be launched by June. Its design will remain the same as XUV 3XO, but there will be some minor changes like new front grille, different looking bumper and new style alloy wheels which will make it more aerodynamic.
Talking about the inside, the dashboard and layout will remain the same, but the color scheme may be slightly different. Its digital instrument cluster and infotainment system can get EV related features like battery range, charging station information and charging schedule etc.
This electric version is likely to get a single motor and front-wheel drive configuration. Talking about the battery, it can be around 35 kWh, which can give a range of about 400 kilometers once fully charged.
XUV 3XO Hybrid – can be the first full hybrid sub-4 meter SUV
After the electric model, the company is also planning to bring a hybrid version of the XUV 3XO. This model is currently codenamed S226. In this, the company can use the 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine given in the XUV 3XO, which is tuned in two ways – one MPFI and the other direct injection.
If this hybrid version comes, it will be India’s first sub-4 meter SUV to have a full hybrid system. It will indirectly compete with the Maruti Francox Hybrid, which will get a low-cost series hybrid system.
The hybrid version is expected to be launched in 2026, which could be a year after the electric model.
Mahindra’s future plans
Mahindra is not limited to only XUV 3XO, but the company is also working on its big electric projects like BE6 and XEV 9e, for which range-extender versions (EREV) are also being considered.
Conclusion
Mahindra is now moving towards a fully electric and hybrid future. The EV and Hybrid versions of the XUV 3XO will not only mark a new beginning in the segment, but will also strengthen the company’s hold in the market.
