Heat wave likely again next week: IMD
At least 26 weather stations recorded maximum temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius or more on Wednesday as heatwaves hit Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
The mercury in Kandla in Gujarat soared to 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in the country on the day.
Rajkot recorded a maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius, Amreli 44.3 degrees Celsius and Surendranagar 43.8 degrees Celsius.
The mercury in the coastal city of Porbandar rose to an unusually high 43 degrees Celsius, 8.8 degrees above normal. Deesa and Ahmedabad in the state also recorded maximum temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius.
