Upcoming Electric SUVs in India That Will Challenge the Tata Nexon EV in 2025

Upcoming Electric SUVs in India : The demand for electric vehicles in India is increasing day by day and companies are also joining this race rapidly. Especially in the mid-segment, new EV models are going to knock soon. MG, Hyundai, Kia and Maruti Suzuki are preparing their new electric cars to compete with Tata Nexon EV. Let’s know which new vehicles are going to come in this segment.
1. MG Windsor EV (Long Range Variant)
MG’s Windsor EV was launched in India in September 2024 and it gained a lot of popularity as soon as it came. Currently it has a 37.9 kWh battery which gives a range of about 331 km. However, this range seems a bit less for those traveling long distances. Keeping this in mind, the company is now bringing its 50 kWh battery version, which will have a range of around 460 km. This new variant can be launched in April 2025.
2. Hyundai Venue EV
Hyundai is also preparing an electric version of its Venue car. At present, not much information has been revealed about this project, but it is believed that it will be based on the next generation Venue ICE, which will come to India by the end of the year. In this, the company can use the E-GMP (K) platform, which will also be in their upcoming model codenamed HE1i. It is expected that the Venue EV will be able to cover a distance of about 400 km on a single charge.
3. Kia Syros EV
Kia launched its Syros SUV in February 2025 and the discussion about its EV version started from then. If everything goes as planned, the Syros EV can enter the Indian market by the end of the year or early 2026. This electric SUV can be seen with different design bumpers, new aero alloy wheels and special features related to EV. Talking about the range, this car can travel about 400 km in a single charge.
4. Maruti Suzuki eWX based EV
Maruti Suzuki introduced the eWX concept at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. A small electric car based on this will be launched in India. The company also filed its design patent in the first half of 2024. This entry level electric car can come in the market by 2026-2027. Some reports also say that it could be the electric form of Wagon-R. This car is expected to get a range of about 250 km.
